The Top Content Marketing Strategies to Bring into 2019

top marketing strategies 2019.jpg

Social Media is always changing and evolving as each day goes by. It has become the main way to keep us connected to our friends and family, but a platform that has ever grown for businesses. The medium became increasingly important this last year for brands to create a connection with their audience and will continue to grow in 2019.

If you’re looking to ensure your 2019 is on track, these next few strategies should be your go-to starting points:

1. The 5 P’s

Plan, Produce, Publish, Promote and Prove. These 5 points go hand in hand when it comes to content marketing and social media marketing!

Planning and organizing is the key to your success. Start by listing your objectives, who you want to be targeting, and the tools you will need to make it all happen!

Producing content isn’t easy for everyone and not everyone has the eye for it. But that’s no problem! Hire the right content creator who can not only create beautiful images and content for you, but that can organize it in the most effective way for your business.

Next step, publish. Picking the right platform for your business is just as important as the content you’ve created for it. Think about Facebook, Instagram, twitter, Pinterest, blogs, etc.

Promoting is how you give all this hard work a little boost.  Yes there is the obvious, “paid promotions”, however you can also promote yourself through email subscribers to simply including it in your email signature!

Finally, prove. Prove whether or not your plan worked. Keep track of where you started to where you ended up. Mark down all the goals you achieved and those that you quite haven’t yet. It’s a long journey, but worth it!

2. Customer Support

More than 63% of consumers now expect companies to offer customer service through their social channels, and over 90% of users have already used the medium to reach out to brands and businesses.

While we all sort of knew this already, we now have the statistics to back it up. Take the time to check through your businesses private messages and direct messages and make sure their enquiries are answered!

3. Have a Constant Voice

By voice, we mean how you represent your brand.  This includes everything from the images you create to the wording you use on your social content! All of these aspects need to have a distinct voice and match on all your social platforms.

It is important to choose one style and stick to it through all your campaigns!

4. Micro-Influencers

Influencer marketing is not new, however it is quite misunderstood by a lot of people!

When thinking about choosing the right influencer, sometimes thinking too big doesn’t get you anywhere! Think about your locals, think about your niche! Look for someone that can truly represent you or your brand and that will allow a longer term partnership that is natural and the perfect for both of you! Choosing the right micro-influencer can be a huge game changer for businesses of all sizes and is a great way for brand awareness and a real connection to your target audience!

We are excited to be stepping into 2019 together and hope these 4 pointers will allow you to execute better than ever for your social media channels! It’s time to build a community!

Stressed over creating social media posts?

The ultimate content creation guide.

As a social media agency, we've noticed that users & companies do have a lot of trouble over creating social media posts. We've created a simple, step-by-step on how to ease that stress!

frenzr social media montreal toronto

1- Structure yourself. Determine how many times a week you want to post, who’s your audience, what’s your ultimate goal (do you want to provide value, inspire or simply share what you like?).

2- Find the subjects you want to cover. Be realistic. If you know you only travel once a year, don’t think of traveling as one of your main social media topics. It can be lifestyle, beauty, health, fitness, fashion, etc.

Samantha Cutler (@samanthaecutler) in a lifestyle/wellness niche.

3- Figure out a style that you like and relate to. Think about it, this is the style that you’ll have to create for your social media persona. Find at least 5 accounts that you relate to and that inspire you.

4- Buy all the accessories that you might need for your photos. Think outside the box, even the dollar store is a great option for some funky colors, papers and props.

5- Find the weapon of your choice, and by weapon, of course we mean camera. Anything from an iPhone to a DSLR camera will do (it all depends on your budget and skills set). Psst: Youtube tutorials are your best friend.

6- Get working with the editing app of your choice. We particularly love: A Color Story, Adobe Photoshop Express and VSCO Cam

social media montreal toronto

7- By now you’re probably at week 4 at producing social media content and you’re feeling stuck just as you were before reading this guide. Now what can you do? It’s time to reinvent and reinspire yourself (finding different inspiration is always a plus at this step). Analyse the content you’ve produced, see what worked and what didn’t. Now go and make it better!

8- It’s time to try something different! What about making a boomerang, a short video or maybe even a gif?

9- Doesn’t it start to get lonely? Get collaborating! Find someone in your area that has the same style and niche as you, meet up, connect, take photos together and post them on your respective channels. This will bring you credibility and of course, a brand new audience.

10- Stop stressing, go have fun!

Here's what it's like to be an Instagram influencer in Montreal

Have you ever wondered what consists of being an influencer in Montreal? We definitely have! That's why the Frenzr team decided to venture out, find popular Montreal influencers and ask them questions about their lives as well as ask them for some tips and trick for those of YOU would like to be in the influencer game.

Top 10 Most Instagrammable spots in Toronto

social media marketing toronto

After our previous blog post on the most Instagrammable spots in Montreal, we thought it was only fair to repeat the process for Toronto. With our Social Media Masterclass coming to the 6ix, what better way to spend our stay than by seeing what the city has to offer in terms of IG-worthy places. You will definitely find the Frenzr team in one of these locations!

1. Calii Love

First mention goes to Calii Love. This Californian inspired restaurant offers a variety of colorful healthy meals that you'll want to snap before digging in; acaï, poké and smoothie bowls obviously making the list. The "straight out of Instagram" interior, the to-go cups marked "good vibes only", are the definition of instagrammable.

2. Rooster Coffee House

Toronto, like Montreal, has a lot of nice little coffee shops that deserve to be featured on your feed, but there's only so much coffee we can drink in a day. Rooster Coffee House is the classic coffee shop of 2017, neon signs, a long welcoming bench, suspended lights, ceramic white walls and more! Everything there makes you want to pull out your camera!

3. Early Bird Espresso & Brew Bar

They have it all! The trendiest foods can be found at this Multi-Roaster Coffee Shop, and by trendy, we mean unicorn toast and charcoal latte trendy. You'll also find a brick white wall and a neon sign but.. unicorn toast and charcoal latte.

4. Jimmy's Coffee

Jimmy clearly knows what he's doing, with now six locations all over Toronto, their Instagram presence keeps multiplying. Depending on which location you're visiting you'll find a different vibe to each; some being more modern, others adopting a more vintage look. In the heart of the Kensington Market, you'll find the one that might just be our favorite. In the summer, its back patio is a little oasis, making you forget that you're in downtown Toronto.

5. Doomie's Toronto

Fast food is not known for being photogenic. Vegan fast food on the other hand..sure. Even though the food at Doomie's is a vegan dream come true, it's not why it made our top 10. The walls walking up to the restroom are what you'll want to see. Comics showcasing vegan humor will bring a smile to both omnivores and plant-based eaters as it's portraying real life scenarios of both points of view. Plates stuck to the ceramic walls feature cute drawings of animals, reminding every one of the true purpose of the place.

6. Short & Sweet Bakeshop

Colorful yummy treats are always worth taking a picture of, but when the background is as pretty as the sweets, it becomes mandatory. That's what you'll find when you walk into Short & Sweet Bakeshop. Just take a look at the picture, there's really no other way to describe the beauty of this place.

7. Wish restaurant

Posting a brunch picture on a Sunday is always a good idea and so is brunching at Wish restaurant. Its rustic scenery and classic brunch items are just what you need for the perfect #SundayFunday post.

8. Sweet Jesus

Original desserts served in original cups, talk about a bright and fun picture! Take it even further and show off your fresh new manicure, it's going to make all the difference, trust us.

9. Pop Physique

Need a good reason to work out? How about giving the #FitnessFam some love?

Pop Physique is a ballet and barre workout studio set in the most adorable/insta-worthy studio. The vibrant colors of the equipment and the airy space make it the perfect place to tone the body and glam that IG.

10: Eva's Original Chimneys

Eva's Chimney Cakes and cones are one of a kind in Toronto! Forget the looks they are also delicious! From a variety of flavours, neon lights & being in one of the coolest neighborhoods - makes this spot a one of a kind!

Create Follow-Worthy Instagram Content

frenzr social media agency montreal toronto

At Frenzr, one of the questions we get the most is "How to get the most interesting, follow-worthy Instagram content?".

Much of keeping a successful Instagram page has to do with the consistent posting of good content. Scheduling your posts is the number one way to make sure that you're posts are intriguing, engaging and continuous for your followers. Scrambling for social media content is more common than you think. While most people think it's easy to come up with one post a day, it's NOT.

If you're using your social media as a business tool for a company or to market yourself in your field, then creating the perfect posts on the daily can become an exhausting feat.

The photos need to be clean, clear, aesthetically pleasing and contain different subjects so your content doesn't repeat itself. It is HARD to come up with that much content. Sometimes your day just isn't all that interesting! We've put together a simplified weekly schedule so you will never run out of content again. It's broad enough that it allows you to tailor it to your niche but specific enough that it should stimulate ideas for your day to day content creation.

Start the week off with a business tip in your given field. People love starting Monday on an efficient note. How do you stay on top of everything; whether it be work, school, blogging or anything that relates to what YOU do on a day to day basis. This allows your followers to get to know you and your given field. When you expose yourself in this way, it also gives you the opportunity to connect with like-minded people. These type of posts allow you to brand yourself within your given field. If done properly, it could give you that extra edge in your community because not only are you knowledgeable in said subject, but you're also approachable and open to sharing your expertise with your followers.

A photo of yourself! Preferably not a selfie. Why do we say that? Well, there is nothing wrong with selfies, but if you're going for a professional vibe (and by professional we mean someone who is taking their Insta feed in a more serious manner), then having someone take a photo of you gives you more credibility and shows you put the effort and time in to create good content. Once in awhile a selfie is totally fine, but for the most part, we want to stay away from 'selfie like' photos. Caption wise; what interesting fact would you like to say about yourself this week? Did you start a new hobby, did you plan an impromptu trip down south?  We want to know! This allows you to talk about things not related to work or business. You can open up about yourself and take a more personal stance or you can talk about something fun (or not fun) that has happened to you recently.

A little mid-week inspiration to help your followers get to the weekend. This can be a quote, a photo of somewhere warm, anything! Just something that if YOU were reading it on your news feed, it would make you stop, smile and get inspired. This type of post requires a very small amount of Pinterest research, but it also gives you a break from creating content for a day. Just make sure, when you are looking for something to post, that it follows your overall color scheme and theme to your Instagram.

Share a goal that you accomplished this week that you set for yourself in the past. Did you perfect some latte art? Show it! Did you finally buy that car you've been saving for since college? Share it! How's that cactus doing you bought 2 months ago and posted about? Stories like these inspire followers to make their own goals and reach them. These posts are heartwarming and show a more personal side to your feed. When you share personal stories like these, or ones you are proud of, it allows your followers to feel like a friend that is being confided in.

Another photo of yourself! We want to make sure that your current followers know who you are, and your potential followers can find you and know your face. This post does not have to be as personal as the first. It could be an #ootd, so you can show your followers what you wear to work. It doesn't even have to be a photo of your face, it could be your shoes and your work briefcase for instance, or from the nose down your favorite top! This lets people see your personal style. Perhaps they look up to you or want to know your day to day routines/style.

The weekend is finally here! How do you spend your Saturdays? Catching up on work, relaxing with your other half? Your followers want to know! This is a chance for you to do a very fun bright post! Maybe you're walking around the city and you find a bright painted backdrop? Take a photo! The main rule to a Saturday post is to make it fun! Even if you plan on spending the day inside watching movies, this is always a chance to take a great flatlay photo of the day's cinematic selections!

Brunch shot. Sundays are always for brunch/coffee/food/desserts! Where did you go and what did you eat? Don't forget to tag your location because your followers may want to try the restaurant out! There is something very aesthetically pleasing about a great photo of breakfast. Perhaps it reminds people that while Sunday is only one day of the week, it's the day to be lazy, relax, and eat. Also, it's usually the only day of the week people take the time to have a REAL breakfast, so it really is a sacred Sunday ritual that is 100% #Instaworthy of a post.

Well, there you have it! Your short, simplified 7-day calendar that will help you keep your Instagram posts on point! Don't be afraid to make it your own, there are endless formulas to a follow-worthy Instagram account! Till next time!

Instagram NEWS - some hashtags are now #BANNED

Instagram seems to be trying to control its content with this new list of forbidden hashtags, some being more understandable than others..

Nick Drewe, an expert in social networks explained to the Huffington Post that “There are two levels of censorship. Hashtags can either have an outright block, and return no results, or a sort of ‘soft,’ often more temporary censorship with around 30 results.”

So what it means is, if you try to look up something obviously inappropriate you'll see a nice ''No hashtags found" pop up on your screen. That we can stand behind; some content can be offensive and the platform could really use some supervision as some of us use it for either business purposes or to share our plain love for photography.

As you go through the entire list, you might find yourself quite confused as to why some of them are restricted. For example if you type "instamood" as your searched tag, you'll notice that only a few top posts are going to be accessible for browsing while the recent ones are going to be hidden from public view.

As expected some people are not letting this new censorship restrain them from fully  expressing their thoughts and are already coming up with ways to fool the system by adding or changing the accent mark on the words we aren't supposed to use or by simply adding extra spaces between the letters.

Some photographers and active Instagram users claimed to have gotten shadow banned (click here to read more on that) and this new update might just be the reason why.

Run through these and make sure no to use them!

Our 5 FAVORITE Creative iPhone Apps

top five creative apps frenzr social media montreal

Apps, apps, apps... There are so many different options when it comes to what app to use to achieve the best Instagram post.

Looking at the app store is like trying to find a needle in a haystack, there are thousands of apps but no way to know if they are actually worth it! The wide array of apps that are presented can be incredibly overwhelming which is why we've made a TOP 5 shortlist for you! We've decided to put together the best creative apps that will help you achieve top notch Instagram/Facebook posts! We will include the best editing apps, planning apps, and video apps so that your content can hit ALL the bases.

A Color Story

This is a multi-faceted editing app that allows you to create hundreds of different effects and filters on your images. The app has three basic categories where you can edit your photos. The categories are; filters, effects, and tools. Each basic category comes with a handful of options and within the app, there is a 'store' in which you can buy more filters or effects. The filters category allows you to add a multitude of filters to your photos to help in the editing process. Although you have to buy extra filters, there are much more options that the standard ones in the Instagram app. The effects consist of different light leaks, color fogs and over effects that you can use on a photo to make your followers wonder "how did you do that?!" While not for everybody, the effects at time can add a certain 'je ne sais quoi' to a photo. The tools feature gives you your basic panel of editing features like clarity, contrast, brightness, saturation and much more! This app really is a one-stop shop when it comes to getting all of your photo editing done in one app.

Our favourite feature: The lengthy editing tools that you can use that go BEYOND Instagram.

social media montreal

Facetune is a wonderful app for helping you to enhance your features. The app allows you to edit & enhance details on your face, add glow, conceal, matte-fy your face, add vibrancy, whiten teeth and smooth out skin. On a bad skin day, this is great! Had too much red wine? Also great! BUT take into account when using face tune to not tune TOO much, as you still want to look as natural and unedited as possible.

Keep in mind, social media photography & general photography are all about creating the most aesthetic and eye appealing photos without any additional distractions. Little breakouts, teeth color & others can be exactly that distraction at times. We're not saying at ALL that you need to Facetune yourself before posting a photo but it's worth exploring!

Our favourite feature: Detail tool! Adds a contrast + sharpens the edges of the spots you touch! Perfect to make your eyes pop, make the details of your outfit stand out & so much more!

Planning your Feed

Sometimes it's nice to plan your feed ahead of time so you don't have to come up with content every day crossing your fingers it will all flow together. UNUM allows you to look at what your feed COULD look like. In other words, you can upload images to this app and place them alongside your already existing posts to make sure all is well in the Instagram world. This is great for those who want to achieve a very professional and aesthetically pleasing Instagram. The worst is when you post a photo and it looks terrible with all the others! Within UNUM you can also edit photos, add overlays and text and it will also show you what one photo broke up over multiple posts will look like (you know when you go onto a page and someone has posted multiple pictures for one large post? That's what we're talking about). It makes it easy to do posts as such because you can open the photos straight into Instagram so you don't get mixed up with the placement of the photos! One last feature we love about UNUM is the statistics section. It will keep track of your best hashtags, your top posts, how your feed is performing, and the best times to post. If you upgrade to an elite package you can track how many followers you gain and lose throughout the days, weeks and months. If you're someone who is looking into growing your page, this will help because you'll be able to see first hand what your followers respond well to.

Our favourite feature: The fact that you can view your Instagram BEFORE posting it!

social media montreal frenzr best editing apps

Our next app is called Mosaico and essentially, it does the same thing as UNUM but has slightly different features. This app is incredibly user-friendly as the drag and drop feature makes it easy to switch around your photos to get the perfect flow. As well, you can go into 'ghost' mode which lets you delete certain photos from your feed quickly so you can see what your feed would look like without them. Out of ghost mode, the photos will still be there (in case you didn't ACTUALLY want to delete them!). Another great plus to this is that you can create 'tag clouds' so you can categorize your favourite hashtags making it quick and simple to add to your photo depending on the subject (Food, Selfie, Fashion).

Our favourite feature: Two words, TAG CLOUDS! We love being organized, and organized hashtags is a dream!

We LOVE this app! This is a great video editing app if you're into creating Instagram videos or even videos in general. VideoShop allows you to import video clips or images, edit their length, add music, voice over, slow motion, text, resize/crop, fade in, fade out and transitions in between clips. Once your video is made, you can also edit brightness, saturation (and more!) in order to make the perfect video. This app is incredibly user-friendly and makes it so easy to share or save to your camera roll. (without a watermark yay!)

Our favourite feature: That you can make videos on your phone without anything else. All you need is the phone, and and the app! Bye bye computer, hello to editing on the go! (Especially great for travel!)
