The Top Content Marketing Strategies to Bring into 2019

top marketing strategies 2019.jpg

Social Media is always changing and evolving as each day goes by. It has become the main way to keep us connected to our friends and family, but a platform that has ever grown for businesses. The medium became increasingly important this last year for brands to create a connection with their audience and will continue to grow in 2019.

If you’re looking to ensure your 2019 is on track, these next few strategies should be your go-to starting points:

1. The 5 P’s

Plan, Produce, Publish, Promote and Prove. These 5 points go hand in hand when it comes to content marketing and social media marketing!

Planning and organizing is the key to your success. Start by listing your objectives, who you want to be targeting, and the tools you will need to make it all happen!

Producing content isn’t easy for everyone and not everyone has the eye for it. But that’s no problem! Hire the right content creator who can not only create beautiful images and content for you, but that can organize it in the most effective way for your business.

Next step, publish. Picking the right platform for your business is just as important as the content you’ve created for it. Think about Facebook, Instagram, twitter, Pinterest, blogs, etc.

Promoting is how you give all this hard work a little boost.  Yes there is the obvious, “paid promotions”, however you can also promote yourself through email subscribers to simply including it in your email signature!

Finally, prove. Prove whether or not your plan worked. Keep track of where you started to where you ended up. Mark down all the goals you achieved and those that you quite haven’t yet. It’s a long journey, but worth it!

2. Customer Support

More than 63% of consumers now expect companies to offer customer service through their social channels, and over 90% of users have already used the medium to reach out to brands and businesses.

While we all sort of knew this already, we now have the statistics to back it up. Take the time to check through your businesses private messages and direct messages and make sure their enquiries are answered!

3. Have a Constant Voice

By voice, we mean how you represent your brand.  This includes everything from the images you create to the wording you use on your social content! All of these aspects need to have a distinct voice and match on all your social platforms.

It is important to choose one style and stick to it through all your campaigns!

4. Micro-Influencers

Influencer marketing is not new, however it is quite misunderstood by a lot of people!

When thinking about choosing the right influencer, sometimes thinking too big doesn’t get you anywhere! Think about your locals, think about your niche! Look for someone that can truly represent you or your brand and that will allow a longer term partnership that is natural and the perfect for both of you! Choosing the right micro-influencer can be a huge game changer for businesses of all sizes and is a great way for brand awareness and a real connection to your target audience!

We are excited to be stepping into 2019 together and hope these 4 pointers will allow you to execute better than ever for your social media channels! It’s time to build a community!

How Social Media and Content Marketing are a Marathon, Not a Sprint

frenzr social media montreal.jpg

Gone are the days when an ad in the Sunday newspaper was a guarantee for an influx of customers. Today, all the customers are online, and they don’t just want ads – they want information.

Eighty-four percent of B2Bs use social media marketing. Although it may not seem like every business needs a social media presence and a standout content marketing strategy, that’s simply not true in today’s business world.

22.69 million people in Canada were on social media in 2017, with the majority of those users spending time on Youtube and Facebook. Now, Instagram is also on the rise with its creative platform, stories, influencers and bloggers - the average person will spending an average of 32 mins per day on Instagram only. That’s a huge client base right there.

social media montreal

You may sell a service or a product and wonder if you even need to be on social media. Maybe you have a page, but you don’t post information or even ads regularly.

Though social media is a new horizon for business owners, it’s one every single business needs to learn and master its many particularities to succeed.

Why Social Media Marketing?

Almost all (91%) Canadians use at least one social media network. Fifty-one percent of smartphone users found a new company while using their device. Do these numbers sound convincing? Now let’s look at a few other important points on why social media marketing is crucial for any business.

1. Social media can take your prospects and customers directly to where you want them to go - your product or service, booking, shop, or order page - with one click.

2. Social media brings more traffic to your website, which boosts its position in search engines like Google. Say you sell handmade organic soaps. The more people visit your website, the higher others will find your site when they search for “homemade organic soaps.” This means more business you didn’t even need to pay to reach.

3. Social media makes you more presentable and interactive with your prospects and customers. You can get input, put out a poll, and even reply to comments on social media.  Being able to communicate back and forth with your customers helps them develop a relationship with you and a connection with your product or service. Think about the community you can create around your brand – the events, privates groups, newsletters, and many other activations that can therefore come out of it!

4. You will find customers out of your regular networks. Some people may be searching for a service or product online only, and you could be missing them if you don’t have a strong and appealing social media presence. You will be surprised to realize how many customers are lurking in groups, events, and pages on social media. One recommendation in a large group or network, or sharing a link to your latest content, could spell the difference between a killer month or a bust.

We’re currently loving Facebook private groups because they gather a much stronger sense of community. There’s a sense of belonging and exclusivity. Think about how you can create one of those groups for your brand, or join one to connect with fellow entrepreneurs or people sharing a similar interest!

5. You can use social media for actual marketing. Networks such as Facebook allow you to pay to “sponsor” a post to reach a targeted audience. In fact, social media has a 100% higher lead-to-close rate than outbound marketing. It’s extremely inexpensive compared to traditional marketing, and it’s even more successful.

6. People trust social media. That may sound crazy, but consider that instead of seeing your social media page as another salesy ad, they see it as valuable information. You, of course, include a link to your product or service in the content, and it becomes trusted marketing – just like that.

However, remember that people need to gain value from following you as a brand. Always orient your content to EDUCATE, INSPIRE, or give an INSIGHT.

7. Everyone’s doing it. While this isn’t always a good reason to do something, most businesses that are slow to jump on social media are doing so because they realize their competitors are. Simply, don’t be a dormant brand!

Social Media Success: In It for the Long Haul

A social media network and following can’t be built in a day, or even a month. It takes a long time to build a solid social media following, but it pays off in the long term in sales and lifelong customers that trust your brand. Here are some tips to building a social media presence.

social media montreal

Be original. Speak to your people. Not the people who don’t get you or your brand, but the people who say, “Woah, this is exactly what I’ve been looking for.”

Target your audience. Most social media networks allow you to optimize your posts and even pick your target audience when optimizing, giving you more bang for your buck.

Optimize. Social media allows you to schedule posts and pay to boost or sponsor them, putting them right in front of your target audience.

Create goals and a calendar. It may take up to 12 hours per week to develop a strong social media strategy. Spend that time wisely by creating daily, monthly, and weekly goals and measuring their success. Many find creating an editorial calendar – a schedule of when they will post and promote new content – especially helpful.

Post informational content, not sales ads. Your potential customers don’t need to see another ad; they need to see why your brand solves their problem best, so focus on information rather than sales pitches.

So you have your social media strategy and you’re ready to make big bucks off of a few posts a week. Not so fast. Social media brings a mix of short- and long-term success. While a post may bring in ten new sales, the real gold is in the content. If the post creates a connection with new customers, they will turn into lifetime customers. They may not purchase now, but you are slowly building a relationship and credibility. On social media, people may even share your post before purchasing. On average, a social media strategy takes 6 months to pay off, so plan for the long haul.

The truth is your business needs social media to survive, and there is a lot that goes into that: good graphics, great writing, a consistent flow of updates, and useful information – all targeted to your audience.

Content Marketing Is Essential for Every Brand

social media montreal

Everyone knows a business does one main thing: it solves a problem for a customer through its products or services. A good part of marketing demonstrates to the prospective customer that they have a problem that you can resolve for them.

So you have the solution to their problem, and you have the information they need to know to understand their problem. Great. Now, how do you tell them that?

This is where social media comes into play. Most brands on social media post informational content – content that is geared towards what they produce or provide. Buyers need to be reminded of the “why” behind their purchase – and that’s where content creation comes in.

In today’s world, with information at everyone’s fingertips, your customers can quickly turn into someone else’s customers. That’s why it’s important to keep them updated on your business and remind them why they still need your product, and not your competitor’s. There’s no better way to do that than on the media they’re on every day – social media, such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

People don’t need to be reminded of your service or product; they need to be reminded that they need it.

For example, a shoe company may post informational content about the importance of wearing correctly fitted shoes, a how-to guide on buying the right shoes, or an overview of different shoe materials. In that content, they will include links to their shoe products that are mentioned in the article.

The potential customer comes for the information, and stays for the product or service. Content marketing makes the customer feels like they’re gaining useful information rather than reading a sales ad.

Social Media and Content Marketing Payoff

Even though it may take time to get a loyal following on your social media, it does pay off. Over half of marketers report that after two years of using social media, they saw an increase in sales, and 90% say it has increased their business exposure.

social media montreal

You may want to hire someone to help you with your platforms if social media isn’t your thing. There’s a number of social media agencies in Montreal that can take all the guesswork out of social media and content marketing for you.

In addition to a social media presence, you need solid content. The majority of B2B businesses spend 28% of their marketing budget on content marketing. Content creation is on the rise, especially on social media. On Facebook alone, content consumption has increased 57% over the last two years.

When asked what inbound marketing channels business marketers plan to use this year, 48% said Youtube, 39% said Facebook Video, and 33% said Instagram. If you aren’t already investing time and resources into content marketing and building up your social media network, it’s time to jump on board.

Although diving into the world of social media and content marketing may seem daunting, there are a lot of resources to get you started. Social media has changed the game from high to low stakes with inexpensive, fun, and easy marketing. Focusing on content rather than advertising changes the aim of your marketing to a more gentle, informative approach. Social media and content marketing agencies exist to help you get in the game and grow your business on social medial. And the best part is, it works.

Stressed over creating social media posts?

The ultimate content creation guide.

As a social media agency, we've noticed that users & companies do have a lot of trouble over creating social media posts. We've created a simple, step-by-step on how to ease that stress!

frenzr social media montreal toronto

1- Structure yourself. Determine how many times a week you want to post, who’s your audience, what’s your ultimate goal (do you want to provide value, inspire or simply share what you like?).

2- Find the subjects you want to cover. Be realistic. If you know you only travel once a year, don’t think of traveling as one of your main social media topics. It can be lifestyle, beauty, health, fitness, fashion, etc.

Samantha Cutler (@samanthaecutler) in a lifestyle/wellness niche.

3- Figure out a style that you like and relate to. Think about it, this is the style that you’ll have to create for your social media persona. Find at least 5 accounts that you relate to and that inspire you.

4- Buy all the accessories that you might need for your photos. Think outside the box, even the dollar store is a great option for some funky colors, papers and props.

5- Find the weapon of your choice, and by weapon, of course we mean camera. Anything from an iPhone to a DSLR camera will do (it all depends on your budget and skills set). Psst: Youtube tutorials are your best friend.

6- Get working with the editing app of your choice. We particularly love: A Color Story, Adobe Photoshop Express and VSCO Cam

social media montreal toronto

7- By now you’re probably at week 4 at producing social media content and you’re feeling stuck just as you were before reading this guide. Now what can you do? It’s time to reinvent and reinspire yourself (finding different inspiration is always a plus at this step). Analyse the content you’ve produced, see what worked and what didn’t. Now go and make it better!

8- It’s time to try something different! What about making a boomerang, a short video or maybe even a gif?

9- Doesn’t it start to get lonely? Get collaborating! Find someone in your area that has the same style and niche as you, meet up, connect, take photos together and post them on your respective channels. This will bring you credibility and of course, a brand new audience.

10- Stop stressing, go have fun!

Top 10 Most Instagrammable spots in Toronto

social media marketing toronto

After our previous blog post on the most Instagrammable spots in Montreal, we thought it was only fair to repeat the process for Toronto. With our Social Media Masterclass coming to the 6ix, what better way to spend our stay than by seeing what the city has to offer in terms of IG-worthy places. You will definitely find the Frenzr team in one of these locations!

1. Calii Love

First mention goes to Calii Love. This Californian inspired restaurant offers a variety of colorful healthy meals that you'll want to snap before digging in; acaï, poké and smoothie bowls obviously making the list. The "straight out of Instagram" interior, the to-go cups marked "good vibes only", are the definition of instagrammable.

2. Rooster Coffee House

Toronto, like Montreal, has a lot of nice little coffee shops that deserve to be featured on your feed, but there's only so much coffee we can drink in a day. Rooster Coffee House is the classic coffee shop of 2017, neon signs, a long welcoming bench, suspended lights, ceramic white walls and more! Everything there makes you want to pull out your camera!

4. Jimmy's Coffee

Jimmy clearly knows what he's doing, with now six locations all over Toronto, their Instagram presence keeps multiplying. Depending on which location you're visiting you'll find a different vibe to each; some being more modern, others adopting a more vintage look. In the heart of the Kensington Market, you'll find the one that might just be our favorite. In the summer, its back patio is a little oasis, making you forget that you're in downtown Toronto.

5. Doomie's Toronto

Fast food is not known for being photogenic. Vegan fast food on the other hand..sure. Even though the food at Doomie's is a vegan dream come true, it's not why it made our top 10. The walls walking up to the restroom are what you'll want to see. Comics showcasing vegan humor will bring a smile to both omnivores and plant-based eaters as it's portraying real life scenarios of both points of view. Plates stuck to the ceramic walls feature cute drawings of animals, reminding every one of the true purpose of the place.

6. Short & Sweet Bakeshop

Colorful yummy treats are always worth taking a picture of, but when the background is as pretty as the sweets, it becomes mandatory. That's what you'll find when you walk into Short & Sweet Bakeshop. Just take a look at the picture, there's really no other way to describe the beauty of this place.

7. Wish restaurant

Create Follow-Worthy Instagram Content

frenzr social media agency montreal toronto

At Frenzr, one of the questions we get the most is "How to get the most interesting, follow-worthy Instagram content?".

Much of keeping a successful Instagram page has to do with the consistent posting of good content. Scheduling your posts is the number one way to make sure that you're posts are intriguing, engaging and continuous for your followers. Scrambling for social media content is more common than you think. While most people think it's easy to come up with one post a day, it's NOT.

If you're using your social media as a business tool for a company or to market yourself in your field, then creating the perfect posts on the daily can become an exhausting feat.

The photos need to be clean, clear, aesthetically pleasing and contain different subjects so your content doesn't repeat itself. It is HARD to come up with that much content. Sometimes your day just isn't all that interesting! We've put together a simplified weekly schedule so you will never run out of content again. It's broad enough that it allows you to tailor it to your niche but specific enough that it should stimulate ideas for your day to day content creation.

Start the week off with a business tip in your given field. People love starting Monday on an efficient note. How do you stay on top of everything; whether it be work, school, blogging or anything that relates to what YOU do on a day to day basis. This allows your followers to get to know you and your given field. When you expose yourself in this way, it also gives you the opportunity to connect with like-minded people. These type of posts allow you to brand yourself within your given field. If done properly, it could give you that extra edge in your community because not only are you knowledgeable in said subject, but you're also approachable and open to sharing your expertise with your followers.

A photo of yourself! Preferably not a selfie. Why do we say that? Well, there is nothing wrong with selfies, but if you're going for a professional vibe (and by professional we mean someone who is taking their Insta feed in a more serious manner), then having someone take a photo of you gives you more credibility and shows you put the effort and time in to create good content. Once in awhile a selfie is totally fine, but for the most part, we want to stay away from 'selfie like' photos. Caption wise; what interesting fact would you like to say about yourself this week? Did you start a new hobby, did you plan an impromptu trip down south?  We want to know! This allows you to talk about things not related to work or business. You can open up about yourself and take a more personal stance or you can talk about something fun (or not fun) that has happened to you recently.

A little mid-week inspiration to help your followers get to the weekend. This can be a quote, a photo of somewhere warm, anything! Just something that if YOU were reading it on your news feed, it would make you stop, smile and get inspired. This type of post requires a very small amount of Pinterest research, but it also gives you a break from creating content for a day. Just make sure, when you are looking for something to post, that it follows your overall color scheme and theme to your Instagram.

Share a goal that you accomplished this week that you set for yourself in the past. Did you perfect some latte art? Show it! Did you finally buy that car you've been saving for since college? Share it! How's that cactus doing you bought 2 months ago and posted about? Stories like these inspire followers to make their own goals and reach them. These posts are heartwarming and show a more personal side to your feed. When you share personal stories like these, or ones you are proud of, it allows your followers to feel like a friend that is being confided in.

Another photo of yourself! We want to make sure that your current followers know who you are, and your potential followers can find you and know your face. This post does not have to be as personal as the first. It could be an #ootd, so you can show your followers what you wear to work. It doesn't even have to be a photo of your face, it could be your shoes and your work briefcase for instance, or from the nose down your favorite top! This lets people see your personal style. Perhaps they look up to you or want to know your day to day routines/style.

The weekend is finally here! How do you spend your Saturdays? Catching up on work, relaxing with your other half? Your followers want to know! This is a chance for you to do a very fun bright post! Maybe you're walking around the city and you find a bright painted backdrop? Take a photo! The main rule to a Saturday post is to make it fun! Even if you plan on spending the day inside watching movies, this is always a chance to take a great flatlay photo of the day's cinematic selections!

Brunch shot. Sundays are always for brunch/coffee/food/desserts! Where did you go and what did you eat? Don't forget to tag your location because your followers may want to try the restaurant out! There is something very aesthetically pleasing about a great photo of breakfast. Perhaps it reminds people that while Sunday is only one day of the week, it's the day to be lazy, relax, and eat. Also, it's usually the only day of the week people take the time to have a REAL breakfast, so it really is a sacred Sunday ritual that is 100% #Instaworthy of a post.

Well, there you have it! Your short, simplified 7-day calendar that will help you keep your Instagram posts on point! Don't be afraid to make it your own, there are endless formulas to a follow-worthy Instagram account! Till next time!
